Child Development Center
Child development refers to physical, mental, and emotional changes that occur with age. During the development process, the child meets several age-appropriate developmental milestones, such as learning to sit, stand, run, talk, eat, etc. They learn skills and move from being depen dent on parents / guardians towards independence.
Typically, children develop skills in five main development areas, including cognitive development, speech and language development, social and emotional development, fine motor skills, and gross motor skills. Parents and guardians are encouraged to participate in developmental monitoring to ensure the child meets the typical milestones.
Canadian Pediatric Society (CPS) recommends screening, specifically for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), during regular visits at 18 and 24 months for timely detection of autism or any other developmental issue.
